How safe are the teeth whitening strips you buy at the drug store?

My teeth aren’t bad, but I’d like a whiter smile. I’ve thought about those whitening strips, do they work well? Are they safe? I’m wondering if anyone has had bad experiences with them.

The only negative thing have to this day.
My teeth sensitive to hot and cold still to this day.

ummm well they do work exellent but someone told me the reason they whiten is because they remove a layer of enamle.
